We are pleased to announce Connecting Works 1986-1994, a new solo exhibition by David Moore. This, the sixth Sion and Moore exhibition, brings together photographic works from two distinct series; English Domestic Interiors (1986-8) and The Velvet Arena (1994). It spans just under a decade, drawing upon the early years of Moore’s work as a young photographer. These two series are connected in the exhibition by a single image, titled
After the Performance.(1989), which is displayed in the gallery as a large vinyl print.

David Moore (b 1961, UK) is a London based photographic artist and educator using documentary photography and expanded modes, making work about state and social apparatus. Since graduating from West Surrey College of Art and Design, Farnham, England in 1988 with a BA (Hons) in Photography, his work has been exhibited, published and reviewed internationally and is held in public and private collections.  David has also worked as a photographer within commercial contexts, especially during the mid 1990’s to early 2000’s in New York and London. Within his practice he has primarily used still photography, but his most recent large-scale project; ‘Lisa and John’, employed verbatim theatre, three dimensionality and installation to critique the production of knowledge that can form where working-class communities are represented through documentary discourse, extending notions of practice beyond the optical image.
